The most recent version of Android, 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich has been revealed at Google’s 2011 I/O conference. What’s the main difference between this new version and the previous ones?

It will combine features from the Android Honeycomb for tablets and the Gingerbread platform designed for smartphones, in order to creat a unified operating system.

With Android 4.0, Google will end the fragmentation issue with too many OS versions released. It will be a single operating system to run on all Android devices; no matter if it’s a 7-inch tablet or a 4.3-inch smartphone. As the giant company said, it will be “one OS that runs everywhere”.

Although few details were provided about its features, it is expected to bring an improved multitasking, resized widgets,  camera enhancements, advanced application switching plus a new face tracking.

Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich is supposed to be launch  around the Thanksgiving Day or before the Christmas.
